Camilla West

  • Road in Forest July - Camilla West
    Width: 81 / Height: 60
    EUR 600,00
    In stock
Camilla West is educated at Funen Art Academy, Denmark in 1991-97. Her oil paintings of landscapes, usually from the southern region of Denmark, are both simple and courageous in their impressionistic and minimal expression. A few lines or arched strokes on the canvas make the horizon or the contures of the landscape. The artworks are calm and silent yet very powerful, which is seen in the bold palette and contrasts of colours. Dark blue is put opposite delicate pink and poppy red is put opposite black and light blue.

The artist´s play with textuality and very thick layers of paint. It is with the few and understated details that West is best and comes alive as a painter with a unique artistic expression and understanding of her specific genre.

Camilla West is inspired by what she sees and experiences in her daily life and the changes of seasons - and with that changes of nature´s colours.
